Honda Ridgeline Tonneau Cover Buyers Guide
Honda started out making Japanese “econoboxes,” but by 2006, it introduced a classically American-style (manufactured in Lincoln, Alabama and Ontario, Canada) pickup truck with the Ridgeline. It was unveiled at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show and introduced for sale at the 2005 North American International Auto Show. It was brand-new, with only 7% of the components shared with other Honda vehicles, and it was very profitable for Honda with sales in over 20 countries, including the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Chile. The Ridgeline comes in a crew-cab short-box configuration with one powertrain, and is built using a unibody frame and a transverse-mounted engine.

Top 4 Tonneau Bed Covers for the New Honda Ridgeline 2017-2021 If you are looking for bed covers for the original Honda Ridgeline click here.
Rugged Liner HC3 Premium Hard Folding Truck Bed Tonneau Cover
The Rugged Liner HC3 Premium is a hard tri-fold tonneau cover that is constructed with solid core, aluminum skinned panels. This elegant and sleek cover installs in minutes with no tools at all. This cover will provide excellent protection of your valuable gear from moisture and dust. The Ridgeline is a little bit different than a traditional pickup in that the bed is not separate from the cab of the truck. The tonneau bed cover needs to seal up against the wall of the cab as opposed to being on top of the bulk head of the bed. Rugged Liner has done an excellent job engineering their HC3 Cover to ensure a no leak installation. Another included and extremely helpful feature is the cargo LED lighting system that comes on the tailgate panel so that you can get a good look at your gear under the cover. Like the majority of this style of tonneau cover, locking your tailgate keeps your bed secure. The tailgate needs to be opened to access the release mechanism to open the tonneau cover.
BAK BAKFlip FiberMax Hard Folding Truck Bed Tonneau
The Bak Industries BAKFlip FiberMax hard folding tonneau cover is a premier cover. Built with a fiberglass reinforced polymer surface, it is not only resistant to dents and scratches, it is cooler to the touch than other covers when left in the sun. Speaking from experience, I can assure you that this is a huge benefit. Although all these covers open up very quickly, the second and a half that you actually touch the cover when opening it on a hot sunny day, can seem like an eternity. This is a flush mounted cover that provides a nice low profile look for your Ridgeline. The FiberMax weights just over 70 lbs and can be a little cumbersome to install by yourself. Overall this is a great looking, top of the line tonneau cover for your Ridgeline.
BAK Industries BakFlip G2 Hard Folding tonneau cover
Just like the FiberMax, the BakFlip G2 is another high-quality product from Bak Industries. This is the cover that started it all for BAK Industries. Strong, durable, easy to install, and stylish. Strong solid core panels that can handle up to 300 pounds of evenly distributed weight on top of the cover when closed. Quick access to your truck bed. Just unlock and drop your tailgate and pull the release cable on either side of the truck to flip the panels up. In less than 30 seconds you can have complete access to your truck bed.
The G2 BakFlip is slightly less expensive than the FiberMax. The G2 price comes in around $800 depending on the size of the bed on your truck. The G2 is our top pick for quality, value, and styling.
Rugged Liner E-Series Soft Folding Truck Bed Tonneau Cover
The Rugged Liner E-Series soft folding cover gives you a nice clean look without the higher cost of a hard folding cover. The soft cover is tear resistant and the aluminum frame gives plenty of support to handle a heavy snowfall. It comes fully assembled and ready to be clamped to your bed with little effort. This cover is perfect for protecting your equipment from rain, snow, and dirt without the high cost. It is a soft cover though and it not recommended if you will be parking your truck in areas that are not so secure. Out of sight, out of mind. That is what this cover will do to help keep your stuff safe from would be thieves. The cover only weights 28 pounds so this could be the perfect cover to only install for vacations or trips that you need to protect your gear.
More interesting info about the Honda Ridgeline:
Notable features of the Ridgeline include a dual-action tailgate, a fully independent suspension, ultra-low emissions, an interior considerably larger than other trucks of its class, and an industry-leading in-bed trunk. Another point of pride for the Ridgeline was its dent- and corrosion-resistant bed, but that doesn’t mean that it wouldn’t benefit from a bed cover or a tonneau cover for extra protection of the bed itself as well as the cargo it holds.
The Ridgeline was the first four-door pickup truck to earn a five-star rating from the National Highway Safety Administration for both front- and side-impact crash test performance, and it has the most rollover resistance of any pickup tested by NHTSA. It was also recognized as a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
Other awards that the first-generation Ridgeline picked up along the way include North American Car of the Year; Canadian Car of the Year and Best New Pickup; Car and Driver’s #1 mid-size truck; Autobytel’s Truck of the Year; Sobre Ruedas’ Best Pickup Truck; J.D. Power and Associates’ automotive performance, execution, and layout (APEAL) Award; Popular Mechanics’ Automotive Excellence Award for functionality; and the Society of Plastics Engineers Grand Award for the composite in-bed trunk.
